Cafe Racer TV on HD Theater....
18 Nov 2010 03:59
Anyone else watching this show? they just aired episode 7 and they had a french builder cut a perfectly good KZ900 in half just to get the motor out of the frame...sounds to me he was just lazy.

Yeah, I saw that one last night. Terrible shame. They worked harder to cut the frame to bits with a sawzall than they would have to remove the engine correctly. Wasted a perfectly good frame, threw the complete front end in the floor and probably bent the fender in the process. Hacked through the wiring harness and speedo cable with the sawzall. Granted, the engine was going in a Martin Frame, but plenty of good parts that will probably go in the trash instead of being re-sold. Shameful. Wonder if we could make an impression on the producers of that show if we all wrote to them. I have seen every episode, and so far, this is the only builder that has blatantly trashed a bike of any make IMO.

Checked that portion of the show out last night. Was wondering if you guys were going to freak about the engine removal. True it looked like they just created more work.

Here's a bit of that episode. They briefly show the hacking of the KZ at about 1:05. Brutal!

Good eyes, that is exactly what they cut up based on the EFI and the chromed out engine covers. Since that bike has a lot of parts unique to that model they sure destroyed some rare parts. Oh well, I suppose it makes my bone stock Z-1 Classic just that much more rare.

I think it just proves the point that just because you are on TV, doesn't mean you know what the f*** you're doing.

I am going to track down that producer (Seate, saete, whatever) and give him my opinion. He just destroyed whatever credibility he had with me. That show was kinda fun (even though they could have shown more of the bikes) while it lasted. I, for one, will never watch it again.
