What do you guys think.

losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/mcy/2063741689.html

Im looking to make this bike my daily driver, and of course i want to hot rod it out a bit too. Im really likein the look of this bike, but i it fear it may be trashed. Other than making sure it runs and rides what other stuff should i look for, so i can avoid buying somebodys problem.

This next one maybe in better condition but may not be worth the extra 700. That i could bespending so parts and what not.

that's a little on the steep side for a bike that needs work. he states that the starter don't work. could be the starter clutch which is common on the middleweights.
he also says it needs a tune up.

you west coasters pay a lot for kz's.

here is one local to me i could get for $500 if i wanted.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I think its just the electric starter thats not working, supposedly it kick starts first kick most of the time. The whole "tune up" thing does worry me though. And no turn signals sucks. Im sure thats cool around some parts but i want the lights.

What about the other one?

there are way better deals when your talking 1000 bones imo......pass...even at 500 that bike is missing the things that make an ltd cool and it looks beat on ,motor dirty,chopped...i'd wait...there is nice stuff around for 800-1000...
and you wont have to wait long...hold onto the cash and be patient...
just my 2 cents

$1700 might be a little steep for the second one but looks to be a really clean bike! Maybe you can bring him down to an affordable price for you? Same one I've had for over 30 years. Toss the highway bars and the sissy bar and looks to be a sharp looking bike! It's an F1 model.

1980 KZ650F1, Bought new out the door for $2,162.98!

Yea for sure that first one has parts off 20 different motorcycles on it as there was no LTD made in 1978. The 1980 looks good from the picture.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Also keep in mind that maintenance/consumables type stuff can add up fast. "Runs and rides great-just needs a chain and tires...", for example. Well, ya gotta have good tires and chain/sprockets to be safe. Tires-$300+, chain and sprockets-$150+. I have never bought a bike that didn't need both immediately. Suddenly, that $600 runner cost a lot more!
