Does any one use a GPS unit?

Do any of you use a GPS unit? I think it would be a good way of establishing true speed and distance. These old speedometer/odometer units are not very accurate.
Which GPS units do you use? Which one do you think is best for motorcycling, and why?

Use one all the time. Have a mount for a Garmin on the bars and a cigarette lighter adapter to plug it in. I like the Garmin because it has a very large spedo readout. That is how I calibrated my spedo on the bike.

I use the Garmin Zumo 660. It got me from Grand Falls, NL to Kingsport, TN and home again with no fuss. About 4800 miles, round trip. The mount is sturdy and the unit is water proof. The only downside is it's pricey.

The Garmin 500-600 series is pretty much what all motorcycles use with GPS. They are made for motorcycles. They are more money than your Walmart stuff though and will have to be ordered special.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Mine is a standard Garmin NUVI 205W and when I expect rain I just put it in a plastic bag before I mount it. Saved me a lot of money and it hasn't got wet yet.

Do these GPS units have internal battery capability, or do they require a 12V wired source like a cigarette lighter? If battery powered, what type, and how long do they last?
Silly questions maybe, but I'm really technologically challenged. I've only used paper maps so far. I'm lucky I can even post on this site.

Most, if not all, have an internal rechargeable battery, and can run for at least a couple hours between charges.
