Police Bike
04 Nov 2010 06:29
I am thinking I would like to have a KZ Police Bike, complete w/ Fairing etc.
Thinking is it would be very reliable /comfortable for extended rides.and maybe I could get a "Deal" on one somewhere?
Thing is.... all the ones I have seen on e-bay are too expensive given the parts and repairs they would need. I admit I am looking for a bargain and would rather do some repairs and get one cheap , than pay too much and have to do repairs anyway. here are my questions, Maybe Jeff can give me some guidance.
1.) Are there certain years of KZ Police Bikes that are better than others?
2.) I live in the Knoxville tennessee area, but have seen none on any auction sites here. I am not the most computer savy person so maybe I am missing an opportunity?
3.) Would travel a few hundred miles for a great deal, better the deal more willing to travel& fetch it.
Jeff, anyone else have any suggestions and or thoughts on my questions?
Thanks

I would like to know some about the kz 1000 p also. I would like to use it as a 2 up bike and chop up all the other bikes to only seat one.
Not shure how much work I am lookin at or how much is a good price. But for the long haul ridin around with the old lady it would be nice and I could finaly have a bike with a wind shield and bags and a radio lol :woohoo:

I found mine (81 KZ 1000C) in the local Craigs list. Paid $600 for a bike that rolled with the frame and all metal parts epoxy painted. The rest came in boxes including most of the wiring. All the parts were there to make a complete Police Special but I decided to go street rat/cafe. From what I've seen on here by lurking so far is that the platform is sound with a lot of back up information and parts. The bike was made from the 70's to 2002 almost in the same configuration so parts at you local shop shouldn't be a problem.
Have fun looking, I dure did and was not sorry about the purchase.
Here is my first posting.
