Old Kawi motors are all but bullet proof..my 1st one I got 4months before I turned 18 & put about 80k miles on it..& you KNOW how hard an 18yr old is going to be, and was, on a 1000. Even though I am a tattoo'd Harley biker guy...my love of old Kaws is as strong today as it was 28yrs ago..never understood the attitude you get from alotta bikers about ridin Jap Bikes..I say knees in the breeze is my ONLY disease!!!...LoL...be safe on your trip & have a BlasT!!!!!!!!

At higher elevations, bike may run a little richer due to thinner air. Usually no biggie.

And bike should get along just fine.

On any longer trip, is a good idea to carry a spare new spark plug or two, and a short length of hose that fits snugly over plug to easily change one at roadside if necessary without burning fingers.

Spare plugs fit handily in the underseat pullout tray, along with the tire pressure gauge, wannabe Parking Puck, penlight, Ibuprofen, tag registration, etc. :cheer:

Yellowstone and Beartooth will forge lifetime memories.

I'm excited for you!

Good Fortune! :)
