steam out of exhaust
30 Jun 2010 04:58
I put pods on my bike a couple months ago and have noticed that everytime there is a heavy rain and the bike was outdoors for it the next morning I get steam coming out of my exhaust for the first minute of warming up, is this doing any harm, or is it maybe actually cleaning out my combustion chambers?
I don't think it's my valve seals as this doesn't happen when I start it up when the weather has been dry (not often lately

I think that when the rain is hitting your bike, that with those exposed air filter/ pods, they are getting wet. Then when you fire it up the water is then sucked into the engine where it is burned. Foam or Gauze elements? Did you use the proper oil on them? As this can help repel water. Those gauze K&N style with its design will hold water in between the raised sections. If on a down hill slant you could fill up the intake, then when you hit the starter, it would enter the cylinder and possibly lock the motor.
