Any Triples owners out there?

Finally realized a long time dream and bought a basket case H1-F. This will be the first 2 stroke I have owned not counting my kid's PW50 so I am a true rookie. The engine is in pieces but looks like it is mostly there. The tank has holes and dents in it but the rest of the bodywork is sound. I am missing a seat, exhaust, rear fender and kickstarter. A friend of mine has restored three of these and tried to warn me but I am too stubborn :P

I told the wife this will be a multi-year project due to money and time being in short supply but I can't keep from working on it.

I'll post some pics a little later.
Wish me luck!

I've had this H2 for 31yrs now. Triples are fun to look at and a once in a while ride, but glad it was never an every day rider. Restoring a triple is going to be difficult and costly.

Wow Ron, that thing is beautiful!

Is it original condition or did you restore it?

Thanks. I don't have any restore abilitys so I buy and just try my best to buy the best originals I can find and just keep them best I can. :) Back in 1979 when I bought this I picked it up for $1000 3 blocks from my house. Different story today.

New pipes for that triple will cost as much as your whole KZ. Parts seem to be much.. MUCH more expensive than KZ parts. But who am I to talk. I have a 73 MGBGT that I picked up a few months ago and I don't even have time to walk out and look at it. I guess gear heads make weird choices sometimes.

That is beautiful. Mine is the same color scheme (or will be once I remove the rust). I have never rode one but I will take your word that they are not everyday rides.
Still, I can't wait.

Heres the 76 kh500 I used to play with only used for burnouts and the occasional illeagal blast.Pretty hairy bike and not for the faint of heart.
Ive since sold it and made a tidy profit. It was fun to have but I like the KZ1000s more.Good luck with your project. There are a couple of good sites for the old triples.KTC and KTW come to mind at the moment. If you get that old triple together youll love it.Peace Jeff

Damn Jeff! Looks like you got your moneys worth from that rear tire. You and Ron had/have some sweet bikes.

Good luck GPZGuy! Lets see those pics. I would love to know how much this build costs in the end.

I have owned several H2 tripes since 74. Currently a Gold 73 H2 750, pretty much original and a 71 H1 500 also original. They are a blast to ride. My daily rider is a 76 KZ900, much more comfortable for the highway. I do have some assorted H2 and H1 parts. Good luck with the restoration. I have turned wrenches on the triples since 74 so, I am open to any questions, from crank seals to carbs.
