Letting the 77 kz 650 go

Ok guys, im going to be selling my 1977 kz 650 b1, im not sure how much to ask for it. I wasnt planning on selling her, but a friend of mine, came over today when i was working on it and he wants to buy it really really bad. I do need the extra money and the room so im going to do it. The bike has had the frame repainted metallic silver, it has right around 21,000 miles, i was told by the previous owner it has had a re-bore but he didnt know to what size but it runs really really well. It has a set of wired george rebuild 26mm carbs, a z1 900 airbox, kerker 4 into 1 header, kz 1000 ltd swing arm and rear mag wheel, the body work is a little rough but i will be redoing it in the next week or so, it will get repainted matte black and all of the dents smoothed out. I just upgraded the tripple tree bearings to the tapered bearings, the forks are perfect, with a new rebuild of them last year. The seat is a corbin of some type molded onto the kz 650 stock seat pan. Any ideas as far as what i should ask for it? Thanks, jim

I'll give ya a nice shiny nickel! :cheer:

With all you've done to it I'd look for $2Kish out of it. Might not find anyone wanting to pay that much (especially from a friend) but with all the quality work done it's worth that.

OMR- if i sold the girlfriend i wouldnt have any excuse to come see her in arizona were she goes to school at the end of february. I see you live in phoenix, thats where im flying to, pm me your number and ill give you a call when im out there. I want to see your 900 bad. I was thinking around the $2k mark also. The thing going for me is he wants it bad, he called me 5 times already asking me different stuff about it. so the 2000 seems like it might happen

Well after 3 weeks of second guessing myself the guy came over with the money tonight. I couldnt bring myself to sell it. He had 2500 in cash, but i just couldnt do it. So she is still safely with me. And i will NOT ever contemplate selling her or the other kawi's.

Always a tough decision.
I think you made the right one.
When you have so much time and work into them, they are hard to let go.
$2500 was sure tempting though.

It goes like this.Ive made the mistake.
1st build the bike you want.
2nd ride and love it.
3rd you need some quick cash so you sell.
4th spend the money.
5th look at pics of your bike all the time.
6th put pics away (cant stand it anymore)
7th take pics back out.
8th start showing off pics of what you used to have.
9th try to buy bike back(its long gone)
10th buy a heap
11th spend 2yrs and twice the money buying parts.
12th build the bike you want ride and love it.
Youll notice its a 12 step program because it is a addiction
