I have a 1980 Shaft. Lot more miles than yours (47k) and not running well right now. I was just at the Kawi dealership here in town today. They have this one:
Said they would take $3,650. I thought they were crazy.
Can't get the pic to work. Here's a link.

That one for $3600 looks extremely nice and original which is rare. The ST is probably the least popular KZ1000 model unfortunately, even though it was the best motorcycle. Depending on condition of course and how original-deduct for non original items like mirrors, seat, handlegrips ect, deduct for add ons where the original parts are lost like Kerker pipes, missing grab bar, which is always the case on the ST, missing airbox will kill the value. I'd think $2000-$2500 and up if it's nice and original, possibly more. Parts are a problem on the ST. Anything missing or fiddled with is NLA.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Ya, the one at the dealership was pretty nice, even up close. The main thing I noticed missing was the horn. The wires were there but horn was gone. I think they said it had around 20k on it, can't remember for sure.

Not to Hi-jack the thread, but I have been tortured for awhile now with whether or not to sell the bike. It pains me to consider it but times is tuff and I just dont see the $$ in the future to continue with it.
So.....where does a fella go to get an idea of what these Kaws are worth?????
Y'all seen mine and maybe have an idea of what has gone into it. If I can come up with an idea of an asking price, and I DONT hit the lotto this week, it'll be in classifieds here BEFORE the E-BAY thing.

Money is a rare thing around here too. I haven't worked since July 22. I might get another month work this year.
That is why i sold my bike.
I wanted to keep the LTD i built for a friend to ride.
The buyer gave me $1650.00 for the 1980 LTD. I thought i did good getting that.
The market is down for sure.

It depends on what part of the country your in also. Around here you can't give away a shafty. The last one I saw was marked at $1000 and was all original at a used car dealer.
