is the zrx a member of the z family?
i'm considering getting one and was wondering about this. the other bikes i'm considering are a kz1000p and a v-max any thoughts?

One is a hot rod, one is a handler and one is a cruiser. What kind of riding do you want to do?

it has four cylinders,it is a standard ,painted kawi green, and has kawasaki written on the on the tank.......i would say yes ,...it is family...p.s "family" is code for gaydar.....
it is water cooled and and a copy so to say.......but way cool..

for my money...if i was gonna get a watercooled standard bike to thrash around on and give the z a rest some dayts......the 2001--2005 yamaha fz1 is just perfect...it's a standard...it has a flat seat...it can carry a passenger with ease and luggage and not make you wear either like a backpack...you can ride the thing anywhere...it handles fast and slow roads....it is a normal bike..it gets 50 mpg with a solo ride all day long....it has 135 hp right outta the box...throw on a pipe and some goodies and you got a big boy standard......they are all over c-list in cali at least...2001 -2003---for like 2500-3500--

i have a friend ,has the yellow and black early model...and we talked tuesday night....swears by it...thats where i get my numbers above....says they are better than the new ones...he's not alone there....zrx..it's family...but so is arai59

Tri the Yami is BFUGLY! The zrx is popular and I just let one go by with 5k on the od for 38 or best like brand new! was a 2005? 12r At any rate these bike will be a cult classic for years to come. Liquid cooled is fabulous and drop in some zx cams with pods and you got a screamer.

i want an every day ride to push through the curves with the ability to handle beside most bikes out there i also enjoy all day cruises, weekend trips, and something that doesn't look like every other two wheeled machine so its safe to say i'm not into conventional sportbike or crotch rocket nor do i like the everybodys got it harley style when you leave the bar you've got to check twice that your getting on your bike type cruiser so this is what i'm trying to find awnsers for i've only been riding for a few years is why i'm asking you guys
i already have my pull it out for the white knuckle experiences bike. a 1977 kz1000 lowered with sidewinder drag exaust and ridged ride (which i want to change back to shocks) but its no good in twistes nor a long trip and she's here to stay i've always been a kaw fan and would like to stay loyal but i've always liked the v-max too i'm just looking for opinions thanks
and i'm not gay so i don't need a "gaydar" but good luck with yours

You wouldn't be sorry. Ask any member here who has one, though I think we might be biased. They are a great all round bike, good looks, scary fast, and great handling. Check out the ZRXOA site, as there are countless mods like Mr. T mentioned, though that applies to any bike I suppose. I still love the KZ for buzzing around close to home, travelling to work etc., but I find that once I am on the ZRX on the highway, I don't want to get off :). Good luck in your search/purchase. You don't have to get a green one... I lucked out and found the silver (the bike in my sig) which was my first choice, but the blue looks good also. B)

Sax... I suspect you are happy you are not a triple-jointed, flexible, pliable gymnast, because you would literally be kickin' yourself in the arse for letting that slide...:woohoo:.

eye of the beholder...i like the zrx better...i just am not a fan of the molded seating, tank knee molds, and cramped rider area...other than that it looks great....6 fotters can fit...i'm yold.....the yamaha has more room and a better motor imo...saxjonz wrote:

It would be pretty easy to argue that the ZRX is a decendant of the KZ family. I have a Rex1100 that I like quite a bit. It's not quite as cushy as the Concours I had before it, but I can still do 400 mile days and I enjoy it in the twisties even more than the ZG. It's not as agile as a 600, but I shure like the pull of a liter bike. No, it is not stock, but that's part of the fun as far as I'm concerned.
The Max is more powerful (stock) and has that muscle car look, but it is very heavy and the handling of the earlier models is, well sometimes hair-raising. The Max is also quite a bit more expensive to buy and insure.

Oh yeah, the biggest shortcoming of the Max is that is has never been available in the faster GREEN color :P
