going for a long ride, need a butt pad
01 Sep 2009 09:51
The seat on my 1000 is worn out, and I don't plan on getting a new seat anytime soon, are there any quick butt pads that anyone knows of that I can throw on to make it a little more comfy for the ride?

the bead seat covers supposedly do wonders but I've never used one. Also see quite a few people with sheepskin covers

Guys on the goldwing newsgroups rave over the Walmart seat pad available at any Chinamart location as well as the beads. I've never tried these supplements myself. My dad had a sheepskin on the old goldwing and I didn't like it. Made you slide around on the seat too much, was like sitting on a wet sheep in the rain and worst of all was ugly.

Some Walmarts have it, some don't from what I understand. Here's what it is. If it's there it will be right in with the automotive stuff.

I've used a beaded pad, it works ok as far as cooling, but it wasn't as comfortable as I wanted. It felt the same after 50 miles as the stock seat. I would look for a gel pad or add a piece of memory foam under the stock cover.
I heard of a guy buying the sheepskin car wash mitts and cutting them apart, then sewing it into a seat pad, and stuffing it with memory foam.

Cool, I hadn't thought of those seat pads in the pic. I have seen those before I think I will go get one. I would stuff it under my vinyl but it is looking like an old t-shirt right about now and I might lose the pad out the side on the highway! Luckily the pillion seat is not worn out so my gf will be comfy...thx guys!
