Ninja 250

Ok, I have been looking to get a nice little bike for a lady friend of mine. I found a guy with what looks like a 99 Ninja 250 in the back if his garage. No seat or tail, no fairings. No idea as to condition or when it last ran, the guy isn't even sure what it is. Apparently it belonged to a niece's brother in law or whatever who didn't want it and left it behind. Not title, but the key is still in the ignition, no battery. I don't know what he is going to want for it I figure it is only worth $500 or so. What do you guys think?
I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

To be honest I am hoping for a phone call to just take it. Upon further examination, it looks like some kind of animal has been chewing on the turn signals and exposed wiring.
I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

Without a title and the unknown, it may be more trouble than it's worth. However it might make a nice parts bike.
