I just pick up a KZ 700 for real chaep title and keys in hand ,, it is very ugly but savable ,, What I would like to know is any more info on the bike ,, also if any other Kaw can donate its parts ,, gas tank is what I have in mind ,, from what I have been able to see online it looks like the 82 GPZ is a very close match , I dont feel it is good enough to restore but will make a nice base for one of my projects , maybe cafe or Fighter any extra help ? Thanks Shoeman :)

There were only 2000 of the KZ700A1's produced and all for the US market. Despite that, there doesn't appear to be any collector market that ever developed...there are a few owners that seem to think because of the low production numbers = rarity = high resale. This isn't the case. The bike has a lot in common with the KZ750L3/KZ750L4 (Canada) and the KZ750R1, particularly the externals and body parts. If you have cause to need a shop manual, the one you want is the KHI KZ750(four) part number 99924-1021-05:)

Congrats Dave, I've got an 83 750 L-3 which is pretty much the same bike just not the tariff buster motor. I think they made the 700 in 84 and 85. You are correct the 82 GPZ 750 is a close match on most things, handlebars are different as well as gauges. If you get stuck on anything you can always drive an hour north and check out mine.:)

Here is a pic for reference

Edit: Dave you may want to PM Apeman I seem to remember him saying that he has a NOS tank for one. I'm not sure if he wants to sell it but it can't hurt to ask.
