Electric Drag Bike
03 Jan 2008 18:16
I was watching Discovery Channel (Canada) earlier and saw this guy Bill Dube with his Killa Cycle electric drag bike. Very impressive. They did the 1/4 mile in 8.08 seconds at a terminal speed of 158.something mph
Found a link to an earlier run. www.autobloggreen.com/2007/03/08/watch-a...second-quarter-mile/
I promise the next time someone describes how to shorten a link I'll pay attention
Oh Oh
Link dont work. Let me see if I can find something that does.

Wild stuff. Certainly the furture but I still like the rumble of the internal combustion engine
Harley Davidson- Turning gas into noise without the harmful affects of horsepower for over 100 years.

Thanks bluemeanie - I put tinyurl on My Favourites !
On the Discovery clip the guy had gotten a pro rider so hopefully no more crashes. While the bike did'nt have the traditional rumble of a gasoline motor it did have a unique and interesting sound. The inventor also seemed to have done some interesting stuff. The machine had at least 2 and possibly more electric motors. He explained that when moving off idle they were wired in series and as speed increased (all computer controlled ) the wiring went to parallel. Have to admit my attention was divided and I'm not an electrical wiz.
Inital acceleration was something like 0 - 60mph in 1 second. I have to admit I thought it was pretty wild.

Im very interested in the development of electric bikes. They have potential to make our gas motors feel like lawn mower motors. The batman and robin ride at great adventure uses linear electrics, the ride gets pulled along. 0-60 in like a second, and just about rips your lips off.
As far as them being the next thing in motors, we already have an energy crisis, wouldnt be a good thing if we all had to start plugging our cars and bikes in at night. The engineering world seems to be having trouble getting them to charge themselves.
But for the purists out there, dont knock it till you try it, im sure once you feel the power of it.. youll be hooked.
