KZ Clothing and Accessories
23 Dec 2007 06:52
djfisher22's t shirt thread got me wondering why there really isn't very much KZ specific clothing, t-shirts, hats, etc., available out there in cyber-space? I have found some old KZ1000LTD iron-ons and have made myself up a t-shirt and a sweat shirt with those iron-ons ... but ... what the hec !!! Our KZ's were really popular at one time and there just isn't much available either in vintage stuff or new. I would love to find something specific to my KZ750 to wear with pride ... especially around my Harley buddies !!!

To me that means there is a market.I have a Z1enterprizes shirt I wear, but I have a Z1B.There is a fella on the Kaw Triples board who does T's all the time on ebay.I had mine done locally,I bought a water slide decal from "Big Daddy Roth"'s estate on Ebay and took it to a tshirt shop. They made me a sample,I took a few pics, put it up on the sites and asked who would want one.I got about 150 people who wanted one so I had about 170 made.Sold all but 2.I wasn't in it to make money,I ended up with a few free shirts for my trouble, but everyone seemed to love them.Just comb the net for a pic or logo you like and print it,take it to a shop and get yourself one made if nothing else. It's really painless. If you get a bunch of people who want one I'll get you in touch with the guy that just did the Baxter/Bird shirts. He's a good guy and does nice quality shirts.Mine are in the mail now and I can't wait to get em.

You've pretty much answered your own question.
Unfortunately for people like us that own/ride/love these old bikes, we're a very small minority compared to all of the other bikes out there on the roads.
Not that it needs to be pointed out, but all of the motorcycle manufacturers (Kawi, Yami, etc.) are strictly in it for the money, and will only "back a winning horse" while that "horse" is actually still "in the race".
From what I've read (IIRC, it was posted about on KZr not to long ago), Harley actually profits more from their HD logo'd clothing and apparel than they do from motorcycle and parts sales...how's that for marketing!
If you surf eBay often enough (or better yet, do a Google/Yahoo search for "KZ clothing/apparel"), you WILL find something KZ related eventually.
Last year, I won an almost new long sleeved t-shirt from the late 70's/early 80's that has an iron-on KZ650 Custom on it for a really good price.
I'll likely never wear it since the outline of the bike is done in glitter, which most definately went out as acceptible apparel for men in the 70's. :pinch:

I know what your saying. There are companies that will transfer your image to a shirt, cup, etc. But here is a couple other places. Not KZ750, etc specific but a start.
Z1 Enterprises shirts
KZR Apparel
I also did a search on ebay and all I came up with was a couple Honda shirts and of course a s**tload of vintage Harley shirts.

Hec Yeah Shoe ... I can buy lunch for a cool old Kawi transfer !!! Lets get past this holiday thing and we'll get together .... been wanting to check out your 750 anyways !!!
I found a couple of old transfers on Ebay this evening ... cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-70S-KAWASAKI-IRON-O...m?_trksid=p1638.m118 and cgi.ebay.com/Kawasaki-Motorcycle-T-Shirt...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but neither is exactly what I would like ... guess I'll keep looking.
In the summer I usually try to make it to the big hot rod swap meet at Canfield Ohio ... there is a guy there that will do a cartoon caricature type painting, on a t-shirt, of whatever vehicle photo you can provide ... kindof pricey but really too cool
