If you decide to check valve lash on the head sitting on a bench... do it with only one cam installed at a time and torqued correctly.
Never leave the head with the combustion chambers down towards the bench if the cams are installed.
Block the head off the bench by about 1 inch on each side. left and right and NOT anywhere near the open combustion chambers.
Turn only the one cam and concentrate on one lobe at a time... to the point of the largest gap (usually the lobe pointing away from the valve is OK).
If you mess this up with both cams installed ,,, and try to turn one cam at a time for clearance, you'll eventually have two valves in one of the same chambers trying to be open or open and I guarantee you'll bend one of the valves.
If you have not taken these precautions already... there is a good chance you already have a bent valve.
Especially if you were a bit careless and broke the cams off the head with it sitting on the flat on the bench.....
