HI all, I'm joining this forum because I just bought myself my first motorcycle: a '75 KZ400D.

Attachment not found

I bought it from someone who purchased it as a non-runner with the intention to turn it into a cafe racer. A lot of engine work got done and it runs again, but then the guy had to move, couldn't keep the bike, you know the story.

So now she's mine! Still needs a few things (carb sync and I need to locate an airbox, mostly), but I hope to have the bike up and fully ride-able soon.

Welcome to the asylum! :silly: The 400 twin is a nice ride. Looks like yours is pretty complete. I hope you find an air filter box. They can be difficult to replace. Some folks have even resorted to fabricating their own.

Nice bike.
Welcome to kzr.

Here's a link to the custom airbox thread .

I believe the 440 airbox is very similar if not identical to the 400 box.
Good luck

Thank you, everyone!

This bike actually did come with a parts bike too. (unfortunately, the airbox from the parts bike is completely the wrong size. It has some other useful parts that have been/will be stripped tho)

I'm hoping to find a stock airbox, probably on ebay, but otherwise fabrication might be the way to go.

Welcome. The KZ400s are great bikes even if parts can sometimes be hard to find. eBay is your friend for the air box.
