Great job Scotty!! Super cool carbon work!! :woohoo:

Love the zx14 parts too!! :silly:

I used zx10r bits for my conversion. They worked great! I did the stem swap from zx to the kz piece as well. New bearings and away ya go! The turning radius is a lot bigger but it's only noticeable in the garage or driveway (I'm the 22-point-turn master now!). :P On the road... no problemo!

I'll be following along with you! :)

I'm in Mississauga,Ontario, btw! :)

I remember you. I was the one asking about your moto gauges a few months back. Good to see you are active on this forum. I must see your bike sometime, as it is mint.
Talk to you soon

I got some motivation and took some pics of the bike in progress. I am still working on the wrapping of the tank so the first pic has the tank being sanded. As you will notice the bike looks rusty, I didn't have a garage for two years while I was living in London Ont, so the bike sat out on the balcony for 2 years under a cover. Unfortunately everything began to rust....but that's ok, it just motivates me to do a ground up build.

I then took the bike outside and removed the rear fender and wet the tank (so it looks good)

Time to mock up the front end, no turning back now.

Just added the fork before I had to go to work, there isn't any bearings in the head, but it looks very cool. I still need to precisely measure the clearances for the steering stem, hopefully I won't have to swap the stems from the KZ to the ZX14s but only time will tell

Has anyone done this swap before? Any advice would be appreciated.

Ok I have made some progress. I had to have the stems swapped out for the kz stem.
Got that buttoned up with a new set of roller bearings and mounted the forks.
Looking at the handlebars there was only one choice..... Yup you guessed it, more carbon fiber. I picked up a kermaxx 1 1/8 carbon fiber bar and mounted it to a set of pro taper fat bar risers.

Just for fun I mounted the fender, wheel (with no tire) and headlight to see how it all looks. Oh and I finished wrapping the gas tank in carbon fiber as well.

I will take some pics for you all tomorrow and let you be the judge on how it looks.

I'm with Leon, wanna see some pics! I had never heard of Kermaxx before, I'm getting similar bars made by Driven (same aluminum/carbon sleeve construction). I am excited to see how your tank wrap turned out! Get on those pics Scotty!!
