Locally sourced Ign Wires
14 Jun 2015 21:02
I discovered a spark plug wire that was leaking voltage. It gave me a nasty shock if I touched a particular spot of the spark plug end boot.
Instead of ordering more Dyna wires to replace my set that had already failed in less than 2,000 miles I went to the auto parts store and bought a set of universal 4 cylinder Ign wires. They were the Omni Spark brand, about $12, 7mm copper core.
The reason I am posting this is they came with GM HEI 90* boots that make cable routing much easier. With a little grease, the HEI boots slip over my Dyna coil outputs and there is enough room to use a small zip tie to secure the boot on the coil. With 90* boots I found it is easier to insert the crimped wire end into the coil and then slide the boot onto the coil.

My expensive Taylor spiro pro leads failed within 1000 miles, not good.
Now I use 7mm copper off the roll and non resistor caps. Also the wire resistance is lower.
