Yes. As long as they are in good working order, those are the best match for the factory ignition, with factory igniter or HEI substitute.

I tested the primary and secondaries and got around 2.4 ohms and 14K respectively. They look like new and like they were used very little.

Ensure the ignition coils secondaries(the sparkplug wires) will clear the tank. A forum member at another forum I frequent mentioned his coils were firing into the bottom of the gas tank, producing intermittent spark.

Did the new Dyna coils come with screws for the primary side terminals? If not, do not use screws longer than 5/16", as longer screws may bottom out before the terminals on the wires get tight.

MFolks, yes they came with the primary screws. It also has brass spacers I believe, for the mounts. I do think I will get some nylon spacers as those look like they could be trouble.

Here is what I decided to do as there was little room to mount them vertical.

Made a 4" x 3 1/2" aluminum plate and put a 90* bend in it so I could mount the units on top with plenty of room and air flow. I don't have any thing wired up yet, but should have it done sometime this weekend hopefully.

Don't forget the heatsink or thermal grease that came with the electronic modules. It helps in heat transfer.

Ok, I was thinking of putting a small heat sink on the bottom of that bracket directly beneath the modules, or would that be overkill?

loudhvx, are you still running your set-up? How long have you been running it and have you had any issues?

It would probably work. but will make wiring more difficult, unless you use a pre-wired connector that would plug in to the needed circuits.

I've been using the same, original prototype I slapped together 7 years ago... the one in the photo on my website. No issues so far, ...not even a hiccup. The resistor and two diodes were just soldered wire-to-wire and wrapped hastily in electrical tape.

With the aluminum plate as you have it, the modules should only get slightly warm. Any more heatsinking is probably overkill.

Glad to hear it is still going strong. That's what I wanted to hear. Yeah I'll prob. skip the heat sink as it would involve more work. lol :silly:
