I don't know if this is legal here, but it's an unsolicited plug for Creative Wiring Solutions:
www.cwswiring.com/

Dan DeLong makes replacement wiring bits, mostly for the 4-cyl KZ series. The fuse box on my little KZ440B1 was in kind of sorry shape, so I wrote to him to ask about an application of his blade type fuse box for my bike. Darned if he didn't whip one up for me, at his standard price.

Fitment for the new box is tight (it is taller than the stock AGX box)and required removing the stock mounting tabs, which are on the battery box for the B1, and drilling a hole to attach the new one. That was no big thing. The new box is quite nice, apparently water tight, and it plugged right in to the stock harness.

Actually changing a fuse would be a bit more work than the stock set up (a bit of wiggling required), but it is clearly a superior design. At least I won't have to find the nearest NAPA store in order to replace an AGX fuse.

I don't recall how the LTD's are set up, but my guess is that this box would work there as well (unless they are mounted in some really out of the way place). He'll even include an accessory circuit if you want one.

Dan kept my old box as a template and will be able to construct a blade type fuse box for other 440 customers. There aren't a lot of cool bits for the 440s, so his willingness to help was very much appreciated.

It's nice to find someone who will do custom wiring for you. I've seen some sorry attempts by owners to upgrade their bike's wiring, using sticky black electrical tape over twisted together wires, and even the electricians "Wire Nuts". Most owners don't think about current demands(amps) and the wiring goes up in smoke(usually miles from no where).

My fuse box wires are destroyed and it might be adding to my problems. I am looking to switch over the blade fuses myself but do you know if this would fit a 76 KZ400? I emailed Creative Wiring but thought I would ask here.

I have no idea. But, in my case I just sent CWS my old box and he figured it out for me.

Just in case anyone is interested, Dan from CWS emailed me last night about the blade fuse box fitting a KZ400. He stated that the fuse box is about twice as think as the original and won't fit in the exact location of the original (behind the battery), but he will provide me a "zip tie type mount." I figured I am going to move around my electrical in the end anyway, so I went for it. Really nice guy, and I also bought a new battery harness from CWS.
