Updated fuse box.
17 Feb 2007 15:07
I have seen others update to the newer style fuse box and decided to do mine this Winter.
I had no luck finding an enclosed fuse box in my area, but found some good ones pictured here in the archives.
Contacted one of our European members, who was able to find one (thank you Bo).
Here's my conversion, using two spare stock fuse boxes for the wiring, and the new box. The new box has 4 fuse slots. One will hold a spare fuse for now.
The two wiring harnesses are soldered and shrink wrapped together to get some length to the wires, making mounting locations easier when finished. I then soldered the ends of the wires directly to the fuse box in the proper circuits, and covered all connections.

Very cool, Rob! This is on my list of one of those mods I need to get to this year....
I just wonder why we can't seem to find a large distributor of a nice, reasonable swap-in blade fuse box.... I have to thinkn they'd sell 50 of them quick around here...

Very neat Rob. Nice job. I have to do something like that before my exizting fuse box disintegrates.

Y'all might want to look at this one.
fuse block on e-bay
It's the one I'm going to use. By the way, wireman, they want too much at boat supply houses!

Believe it or not, I already have that one out in my garage. That's the one that can be bought at AutoZone as an un-assembled kit. It's *ok*, I suppose, just not exactly what I'm after. Am I being too picky?Y'all might want to look at this one.

Oh, no! It's not the AutoZone kit! I've had one of those, and it's junk! This is a really good piece. I've got 4 of them now, one for the bike I'me doing, and extras for future projects.

Yeah, but for me, I'me building a whole new system for my bike. New FI, new ignition, new wiring harness, new everything. And I want to get away from those buss type fuses. I really like blades. Much easier to change, to tell one from the other, yada, yada, yada. Anyway, 6 bucks apiece beats 30 buck each any day, for this cheap Scotsman!
