soda blasting engine
16 Dec 2011 21:59
I've been reading/looking at the results of soda blasting the engine and I like what I see. Just a few questions. Has anyone soda blasted the engine while still in the frame? If so, how were the results? What's the possibility of engine damage if some gets in the engine? Any other concerns? Thanks

Others have done it (search for posts) and I did it recently too. I took off the carbs, covered up the intake ports really well and also the breather cover.
Blasted the motor, went home and changed the oil. Works great. Makes a huge mess in the area where you do the blasting. If it's outdoors, I suggest a parking area that's not crowded with cars and people.

Thanks. I'll give it a try when I'm able to do it outside.

That looks good!! Why are you painting it? I think it would look great with a little buffing/polishing. Now it's soda blaster time and wait until spring:-)
