Looks good. I tend to agree the seat could be cleaned up a bit, but that's a minor piece of work in comparison to the whole bike, so you're in a good spot. Not sure what the hatred for those handlebars is about, I've been looking at grabbing some for mine as well. I like the lower riding position for comfort as opposed to getting blasted in the chest sitting straight up on the interstate. And the bars are a nice price advantage over clipons. Glad it's coming together for you man, enjoy the ride!

I am unhappy with the seat myself, I got the glue all over it though hard to see in the picture. I cant figure out a respectable way to mount it, mostly cause it doesn't fit. I never test fit it until I was almost done haha. The process in mind for the next seat is to pile the clay on the frame and work around it so I get nice true lines and ill form a flush curve for the tank. I still have plenty of materials for another seat except for the clay, but for 25 pounds of clay is $25.00 so fifty bucks from now I would be set up.

As for the handlebars...They will stay unless I can justify the expense for clip ons in which hold the same power of process as the bars I have now. Sitting on the bike I sit upright. It happened on accident but I never have sat more comfortably on a bike, If my sitting position changes even a few inches in the new seat than I will have to scrap the bars since I can see back pain over the hill haha.

There will be no numbers put on the bike, I have a friend that embroiders and stitches so the new fake leather seat cover will have solid stitching and I am going to have her embroider "litre bike" with text being a 1 inch tall on the lower rear corner of the seat.

Consider superbike bars. Low enough for Lawson, Rainey, etc. without looking like they are mounted upside down - and less backache. ;)

i have seen several people tape over their frames and use saran wrap on top of the tape then lay the glass on that.by taping the frame and glassing from there all the seat/tailpiece will fit the frame rails and the contours of the frame perfectly.
you could also mold an upholstery pan for the seat bottom that you will glue the foam on and then screw it to the seat /tailpiece unit.that way you have finished upholstery edges and your seat/tailpiece can have sides that come down and cover the frame rails.

have you looked at the vintage seat/tailpiece combos that airtech sells?

www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintageseats.htm

some good ideas there.

It runs..................... The fuel system needs fine tuning and the finishing touches need to be made. But it F'in runs. I made a wire harness from scratch, which was the goal to begin with.

I just got LED blinkers in the mail, in the market for a tail light so I can mold the next seat I make around it. It is a beast. A loud beast.

I will have a video of it running in the coming days.

The face was probably ridiculous because I started singing right after (I also sing) but I've never sang after a accomplishment haha. I was ecstatic beyond belief.

Thank you, I will so much. I just got a KZR shirt in the mail today so for my first ride I will be wearing it, and not untill my first ride. If I didn't join this forum with the support and inspiration I wouldn't have made it happen at the pace I wanted.

Though Im not out of the woods yet haha still work to be done!

I made a Stand Alone wiring set up from a old computer power supply. I kept the simplicity though leaving room for growth.

I did have a computer cooling fan on this but it fried when the bike started so I need a resistor so it doesn't go up in smoke like the first one. This needs a cooling fan because the REG REC gets warm.

Materials
Computer Power supply box
Sealed Led Acid Battery 12v 5Ah
Regulator/Rectifier
LED Rocker Switch
Terminal Post
Fused Wire
Heat Shrink
A little soldering skill to be sure it holds up

They all heat up, but if everyhting is wired right an R/R as they are called shouldn't go up in smoke upon starting a motor..... they are built to take quite a lot of heat, might fail often(like in H*nda VFR's, etc) but often means at least 10K miles

Instead of spending time on building a fan to cool it, look for where you wired it wrong ;)

in my now defunct VFR, i just attached it to a large processor heat sink and it lived happy ever after....
