Batches of the KYB shocks from the ZRX seem to show up shortly after a bunch of guys at Zrxoa make.a group buy from Ohlins. Hmmm.
For a rebuilt pair you will likely pay more than $400. A used set will cost at least $375 to rebuild. They are nice shocks, but I really think some brand new Ikons or Hagons would be a better choice.
Also, for an average size rider, the KYBs are nearly too stiff on the ZRX. On a KZ 750, they would probably ride like drag struts, unless you weigh around 300lbs.

Maybe something like these? I can't find the KYB one's for sale. Are the ZRX1100/1200 a direct swap?

I've had Hagon shocks on my 1977 KZ650-C1 for 11 years (16,000+miles). They still work and look like new - I REALLY like them a lot! Ed

KZ802 probably means used oem ZRX shocks. either off eebbaayy or from an mc salvage yard. I've look for them in the past on EB, but they don't seem to come up for sale very often. I saw a pair recently, but one of them was damaged & appeared to be bent. There are cheap chinese aftermarket that look similar, but apparently from reviews they are junk.

For rear shocks the KYB stockers off of ZRX 1100 and 1200 are huge upgrade. Also you won't have shocks that cost as much as the whole bike does.

I went (crazy on eBay) with 2012 GSXR750 fork and wheels. Cognito moto sent me the stem and top clamp. Traxxion in Woodstock, GA will be rebuilding the fork and installing their top cap extension which should take care of most of the height lose. Later on after I get it dialed in I will order my laced 18s front and rear. Two companies have a hub for the GSXR. Cognito moto and HB moto.
Also got my Bandit swing arm today. bushings will arrive Monday. Ill Tig mt shock mounts on for the ZRX shocks i won last night. Coming from Canada soon.
Installed the Dyna 2000 this evening. I had a found a thread on here explaining the fine details of setting it up, but I can't seem to find it now.
I think my very nice GSXR wheels were stolen from in front of my door. Fedex says they were delivered Thursday, but no box here! waiting to hear from them and HOPING they are simply in my leasing office.
Wired George has my carbs in queue and im exctied to see his work.
I'll have my custom simplified wiring harness built tomorrow. Also have a R/R from Rick's for my little lithium battery.
Plan is to get it together and running. Ride it then this winter take it ALL apart for blasting and paint.

GOOD to hear from you. The Z1B is wonderful. Just took it to Dave Moss to work on the suspension. Fells much better. He suggested rebuilding both forks and shocks and put in 5 weight oil.
Bike probably has around 6k miles on it and no matter where I ride it draws a lot of attention. I have heard countless stories of guys their KZ 900s doing remarkable feats. LOL.
What the plan for the Suzuki?

If my Morris on my MK II start to come apart, I might have to adapt the extra GSXR1100 wheels I have for my GSXR750 LTD. I like the vintage Morris wheels Marvic is making, but at over 3,500 U.S. dollars for a pair. I would have to sell my kidney to afford a set!!!!

Just saw this post...I know it's old but I had to reply.....in regards to the 86/87 GSXR wheels, I did use them on my 1981 GPZ1100....they seem to me to be a no brainer. I milled out spacers, and tweak here and there. Used a gsxr rear brake, milled some pieces for it. Welded the brake mount on the bottom. I had to mill the brake rotor mounts in about 6mm to clear the stock forks. Milled the speedometer drive down a little and a little off the fork. The drive even works with a 1984 GPZ1100 or ZX 750 speedometer and gauges. IT's ~3 MPH off at 75mph. Tank gauge works, tach etc.... I used a zx750 light cluster and it bolted right on with some english. I hated that friggin ugly cluster that come on the b1... Using the stock swingarm I didn't have to use a offset front sprocket so no worries with the pickoff shaft side loading and toasting the bearings and seals. I had to cup the swing arm just a tad, nothing big. I used the 1100 rear wheel so i could run a 150 or 160, but if you used the 750 3.5" and a 140 it will clear no problem. Of course, like all projects, I found a even better "family recipe" using a set of zx1100 triple clamps (which are ~.75" wider, and zrx1100 rotors(same bolt pattern)) which have 1/3" the offset, which them makes milling the rotor mounts not necessary. You do need to make a brake adapter, which is easy. However...the gixxr axle front axle is 2mm larger, so I had to make some inserts on my lathe so the fit was correct. All of the small stuff is a pain in the butt, and took 90% of the time. So far no issues I aligned the front and to 1/8" and have experienced no wobbles or slappers. I need to seriously upgrade the front fork internals. I have a set of racetech springs and GoldValve Emulators ready to be installed. I am installing a fork brace and steering dampener as well. Rear shocks are off a ZRX1100 rebuilt and revalved and with hyperpro springs by Jamie Daughtery. He says don't bother with the Ohlins, the KYB's properly tuned work as good ot better for way less.

Do you know what the weight difference is between the GSXR wheels and you Morris's? I'm sure they weigh way less.

Dr. G,

I think you said the frame was modified, and I can see the frame mount point for the rear shocks is moved down and FWD. I think you said the head tube has been moved, did you have the rake decreased (IE steeper angle)? Also what is different on the forks than stock, are they completely different model than what was stock at the time? What is the tube diameter? Also did you have any head work done? Port, polish, bigger valves, degree the cams, high compression pistons? Are you running any nitrogen in the forks? What rear shocks are those? A lot of us use the ZRX KYB, which are great and can be re-valved by DR Motorsports:http://daughertymotorsports.com/#

I like your build so much I've decided to drive mine towards more of the original S1. I machined and fit 1987 GXSR 18" wheels front and back. The rear is a 4" and fitted with a 150, which I think matches the size of the S1, and the front is a 18" and 110. So I had to convert to the 530 chain. Going with these wheels, IMHO, was good because the geometry isn't to wacky, and I didn't have to play games trying to line up the chain with offset sprockets. I was able to machine the brake rotor mounting point's back and get the 296 floating rotor's to fit between the stock forks. Made some brake caliper adapters so they fit. I am having the stock forks modified with Racetek Cartridge Emulators and springs with heavier oil. I've added a fork brace and will add a steering damper as well. I see you welded an additional triple clamp to the bottom, I've never seen that, is that the typical mod for the day? I know the 81 GPZ has an aluminum triple top and bottom, and is double bolted. I read that Muzzy made an adjustable head stock so he could change the rake, does yours do that?

I thought I saw somewhere that somebody was making the Morris Wheels again...

OK so here is the scoop. Someone at the court house must of f*&%ed it up a long time ago and just put a P model when its an A model. The numbers match all the way around everything is good but that. I just got done ripping all the stuff off of it that it will not need anymore except a few bits here and there I left the four head pipes and the carb boots and wires so i can get it started and make sure it runs good b4 I go crazy with a 1000 dollar parts list. I dont think that the rear master cylinder can be saved its pretty messed up. Does anyone make an after market or will another year or model fit? Also i plan to put a zrx front master cylinder on it does and put a late model clutch perch and lever, does anyone know of a perch and lever that easily fits? Also does anyone know where to get a good after market tail light? the list is looking pretty big so far
rear master cylinder oem or after market, front clutch perch late model, carb kits, vance & hines street, headlight and bucket after market, fork ears billet after market, carb t fittings, tires and tubes, rear shocks after market, fork seals and oil, tail light kit after market, brake pads, battery, pod filters, front fender after market
Does anyone have any input on where to get some of these parts harder parts?
