Have you had a chance to hear the pipe yet? I am ready to order one but I'm worried that it will be too loud. I am torn between the motogpwerks and the Vance and Hines. I plan to do some touring so an overly loud pipe can bother after a few hours of riding.

Yep, and there is more to come, I'm just waiting on a few bits to show up on my doorstep.
Last night I pulled the carbs, and to my surprise, my son asked to help me out. I had to pull the old Fred Sanford heart attack routine since he never wants to help me with these kind of things. We confirmed what I was thinking. Number 2 and 4 had clogged pilot jets again. I went ahead and pulled the carbs completely apart for a comprehensive cleaning. I don't want to clean out the jets only to have this happen again.

testarossa wrote: Well I couldn't stand it, so I started trying to fit the new pipe. I knew there would be some considerations due to the custom nature of my bike, but it actually fits pretty close. I need to make a slight mod to my rearset adapter plate so I can tilt it forward a touch. Then I will need to drill and tap the rearset for a stud to attach the tab on the tailpipe. That should just about do it. Obviously, I'm doing this to get the pipe as tight to the frame as possible. I cannot afford to have the pipe hanging too low. Thankfully the pipe crosses over the middle of the frame instead of running down the right side of the frame like my other exaust. I should actually have some cornering clearance on right handers now!
Here's what happened to my old pipe when I tried to go into a right hand turn very hard:

And a couple of shots of the bike with the new exaust test fitted. Sorry about the poor lighting, the sun went down before I got done.

Now I just need to make a couple of tweaks to gain a bit of ride height, and the bike will sit perfect.
I was looking at getting that exhaust but I don't think it will clear the larger oil pan I have. I like the stainless look too.

You are probably right about that. The collector passes directly under the oil filter bolt. You have a little wiggle room depending on the rear mount, but not much. I intentionally have mine as tight to the frame as possible. I'm clearing the oil filter bolt by about 1/4" with a standard oil pan.

The new pipe has about 1/2" less ground clearance when the bike is straight up. It has to clear the oil filter bolt. The old pipe ran down the right frame rail.

Ok I have my carbs back together again and was able to ride around the neighborhood between thunderstorms. This pipe is definitely louder than my old exhaust. Quite the growl above 4000rpm. I'm not sure it's the best exhaust for touring. It's rather short so I may heat your bags if you are carrying any.
It's perfect for my needs. I took a quick video that I will try to post later.
