Greetings all. I’m a new member to the forum. I own a 1978 KZ1000 A2 that was originally purchased for me by my father in 1991. After riding it through college and grad school, I moved away and the bike went into storage for the better part of the next 25 years. Around two years ago I had my father trailer it down to me and I’ve been working on a slow motion restoration with the help of Retro Wrench, a local vintage motorcycle shop here in town, along with many purchased parts from Johnny’s Vintage Motorcycles, Z1Parts.net, Z-Power and Diablo Cycles. “Phase 3” of the restoration, which just wrapped up, included a dual disk conversion up front and a wheel reconstruction (front and back). The bike is an absolute joy to ride; more comfortable in its 46th year than when I first started riding it in the early 90s. As my dad likes to say, these bikes are the B-52s of motorcycles for a reason.
I enjoy reading about these motorcycles and I’ve already found the forum on KZ Rider helpful for some obscure parts searches and questions I have. I appreciate the resource and I’m glad there are people out there committed to maintaining it. Thank you.
