Yes they sure were. it was a love or hate thing.
i had my same kz at the time . my bud had a cbx kz1300 and the kat. the kat was the ist 1 to he had that would beet me. my bike was 1135cc's at the time.

To add to the katana,
here was the competition at the timeâ€¦red frame wasnâ€™t just used by Ducati, I think painting a frame red had some thing to do with it going fasterâ€¦. :huh:

Correct me if Iâ€™m wrong I believe you guys didnâ€™t get the full range of CBâ€™s as we did in Australiaâ€¦.

Anyway, the CB had an Aluminium tank, carbon fibre fairing, larger cams & valves, lightened clutch gear etcâ€¦ back then it was a major big deal and you knowâ€¦even now that stuff is on a modern bike, some 30 years later.

Worked with a guy in 1987 that had one with 5000ks on it and at the time the GSXR had just been released which I think coincided with the time my erectile dysfunction was curedâ€¦ sorry guys the GPZ just didnâ€™t cut it at the time not until they released the ZX rangeâ€¦..

Was a great time for sport bike enthusiastsâ€¦
