I totally agree…. Black is so bourgeois

I got bored of black a while ago…. And it’s not even a colour either.

Something to take into account about powder coating:
Cant blend colours into each other and the choice is left up to the powder coaters available colour range… also if you get something spesh then try to touch it up when you get a stone chip… hmmm
I cant get past the price also… my mate got his frame done in a nice metallic blue…. $425au later though, my god that’s more than I have spent on my latest project so far and its almost finished..

Below are 2 pics, ones of the KZ (hanging) the other gives you an idea of the prospects other than black and powder coating… read what has been done to it, powder coating cant give you this outcome and I believe 99.9% of bikes in this forum don’t share a resemblance either…. I don’t think so anyway?

KZ frame... Blue with green pearl added to the paint

This is the shyte!....you will never get this with powder coating and I dont think anyone else's frame does what this thing does....Its standard blue with a chamelion Pearl (blue to purple colour change) over the top BUT!....
the best part is it glows in the dark "BRIGHT GREEN"... it has a glow in the dark pigment in the top coat also....

heres a question for you....what do you do when you turn the light off in the garage after looking at your bike at night, go inside because its dark.
Me,... I stare at mine for the next 10mins fricken amazed! :woohoo:

(shame I dont have a pic of it at night, thats the prob with digital cameras)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

its 120 usd to get mine powder coated.

The GSX frame was about $50 as the glow pigment cost a fare bit but the KZ I think total was about $15..... so I still have $55 to play with... US might be far cheeper than AU for powder coating regardless though it is still cheeper to paint and you wont get the same result....Did I mention the GSX glows in the dark

heres how it works...i promise some folks shirts when i get up to the track at some point...then i forget who i told what and what sizes are for who...so i re-send p.ms and get it all on a slip of paper...who-sizes-addresses -ect...then the paper sits around staring at me another two weeks...and then i ride up there one day when i cant take it looking at me outta my change dish with disgust... and buy ten or twenty and go straight to the post office....so ....in short....suck it.......

oh and paint it monkey butt pink for all i care...it'll go nice with those flower-print-cotton shirts with the wooden buttons and the painted sand blasted toes and white shades...

you guys are killin me with the chamillion paint.

I will spare you the color critique, and offer another example of pawder coating. I am the example of the drawbacks of powder coating, as I modified the frame after the first powder session. soooo the frame got the treatment twice.

I just got the swinging arm back, it's actually called "brass"..... it's a little more ahhhhh "traditional".

this is nice work, it cost more, yes, but I no worry worry about Nevada rock chips now. Powder Coating is actually an "encapsulating" coating it has elastic strength, which makes it tougher than almost anything but LineX.

I don't usually like a Gold frame, but on Zeiss' 650 it looks good:

And have thought Gold might look good on my bike if I went back to the Gold wheels:

I like the blue frame on this one too:

it is pretty much a case by case study on whether a color other than the norm will work or not.black and silver are pretty safe, anything else can be subjective.

rstnick you could rock the gold frame on your bike esp.with the gold wheels.

the blue frame with the black and gold is not offensive either, gotta be careful tho it can start looking like a kid with his first can of paint and no tape.
