A sigh of relief.
Seems like Z1 is as good as I've heard here.
Glad your bike will be back to tip top order soon.

I think I'll still send out the stock ones to be revamped anyway when I can afford it. Who knows how long they'll last. The stock ones are 40 years old. B)

I bought an aftermarket set from a guy who never installed them. $200.00.
I installed them the other day but have zero miles or RPMs on them yet!
Now I'm worried. They look and felt light weight compared to the stock ones but both sets of my original instruments are just impossible to use anymore.
I'm always asking my buddies how fast are we going!! Lol

I'm hoping the new ones will work at least until I can have the stock ones rebuilt. I might go through them again. They look good but that means nothing. She said the factory 'fixed" the problem. That's not a good sign.

Maybe I'll stop using the trip OD for setting my fuel stops and set it back less frequently.
We'll just have to see how it works out.
I'd rather have my original instruments too but I'm hoping these go further then mid to late season. Ugh!

It was working fine until I reset it. I just hope I get a set back. If not I might find a aftermarket speedo I can fit in the old housing. I want to keep the stock look. At least I didn't pay $415 for them. B) I've been watching them for a long time.

I had bought an older banged up 160 MPH gauge to replace the 80 MPH gauge that came stock on my 80 LTD 1000 a few yrs. ago & sent it along with my tach to Z Resto to get rebuilt, & it cost less than the aftermarket ones, I'm very happy with the job they did
This is what they looked like when I got them back, a few yrs. ago

I put about 20 miles on today, with the new aftermarket instruments.
Speedo is good, GPS test says it reads about 2 mph fast at 60mph.
The tach, not so good. I have about a 150-200rpm oscillation swing from 1800-2000 rpm up until I hit around 4000. Then it slows down to a fat needles width jiggle. But never steady.
I hate spending a lot of money on this but maybe factory rebuild is better.
Time will tell

I'm working on my old speedo now. The pin in the cup is broken 1/2 way off. How that happened I have no idea. The other shaft is broken off at the needle and the spring is broken. I switched the one I have now for it. The pivot point is sloppy but one of the others isn't. The way they're made I don't think the pin will be long enough so I put some JB weld in ti and will use my largest jet drill to make a new hole for it. Hopefully it will work long enough till I get my new ones back. They were talking about refunding my money and I told them I want a working set back. They said OK. The speedo is rock solid, the trip meter is what I'm having the issue with. It worked up till now but the trip meter always has been hard to set and sticky. The tach wanders too. The red line is faded already. The new OEM face I bought last year is slightly but didn't fade as fast. I don't expect them to last 40 years but you would think at least a year. I will be sending my old ones in for rebuild when I can afford it. I'll be sending the new ones back with a note saying I want to exchange them not a refund Friday. We'll see.
