Most of the time when I come to a stop, the forks compress, then rebound back, but not all the way back. When I take off from a stop the forks finally come back up to normal. This is about an inch. I don't think this is normal.

I didn't notice it last year, just in the last few weeks. I haven't hit anything, so I don't think the fork tubes are bent causing them to stick. Can it be worn, soft springs? Would a spacer in the tube help?

I have 15w belray oil, the forks were torn down, cleaned and rebuilt using the original springs about 3500 miles ago. The springs measured out fine then. The fluid level has been topped off and measured to the manual spec.

Thanks

I think it probably is normal, and you just noticed it.
The seals have some stiction, if you push down on the front end, then let up slowly, the forks don't return to their original level. But if you let the fork return fast, then it will return to the higher level.

When you take off from a stop the front end gets light and the forks extend.

It's been that way on all the KZ's I have rode anyway.

How much air do you have in the fork?
