Tightening too much may damage the bearings. Get it right and the bike will be much happier.

snug it down good and u shouldnt be more than + or- 1/8th turn from a slot for ur cotter key to slip right in.bj

Well, it ain't 19mm. Its a lot bigger. 19mm just barely gets over the little tapered rim on the castle nut.

This wouldn't be such a pain if either a)I didn't live 45 minutes from the nearest hardware store or b)I had enough money to just buy a bunch of new tools.

Someone suggested measuring the nut. I'll try to dig out a metric ruler and give that a try. There's got to be one around here somewhere.

Then back to the hardware store tomorrow I guess.

Try a 7/8" (22mm) socket.

How about an adjustable wrench?;)
