The stock rotors, I believe, have glued in place magnets. Some people think the same glue was used to hold the brake shoes for the rear drum brakes(could be wrong), as they can work loose, and fail over time. I believe a forum member "Martin,CSR" had his brake shoes fail & jam the wheel while pushing his bike. Makes me wonder how it would have turned out if he was out for a ride.....

They make stators(the wire windings), but I don't think they make/sell the magnetic rotor. Ask them at

Update: One new Electrex RO3 rotor shipped 7/23 from England. I purchased another, rather than wait.
I anticipate a quick turn-around (refund) once Electrex has examined the defective magnet.

How way different? Better throttle response? Keeps the battery fully charged at lower rpm's(Electrosports stators are supposed to be overwound in this regard). Any e-mail from the maker of the defective rotor yet?

This is the new version of the RO3 rotor. I'm noticing much smoother engine operation, along with better throttle response.

Probably a heavier rotor, and better balancing have a lot to do with engine smoothness. Might be an engineering change, requested by customers too.

MFolks
7/30/13 This showed up in my ebay messages:
Hi Dave,
Just to confirm that we have received the original back and it appears that the magnets have been damaged somewhere along the line.
I have passed your details onto our accounts department who will issue a refund via Paypal for the cost of the original RO3 plus the postage you paid for returning it, this should be processed within a couple of days.
Thank you for your patience in this matter and hope you enjoy the rest of the Summer's good weather.
Many regards,
Mel
