I will for sure get the resitors in line.
What about that 4.8 universal Motorcycle coil?
Would I Need the Resistors with that coil?

The resistor is commonly called a BALLAST RESISTOR, available with a universal coil at any auto parts store. This will keep your wiring and points/ condenser happy. Approx $30.

looks Like I found a 3ohm specific coil.
Free too! I like Free!
It is a Pertronix car coil.
Here is a link to the one like my Buddy just brought over.

Should I wire in A Ballast resister or anything else if I use this coil?

That link faied to show your coil, many say on the coil if it's a ballast resistor coil. I would say yes if for a point system and you want the points to live a long life then drop the voltage/ current across them. Wire in the Ballast. You can buy 1 for around $5.

Just Any Ballast resistor with my current AMC coil? I see plenty of 1.5 and lower ohm rated resitors but no specific 3ohm rated ballist?
The Coil link is for a Pertronix 3ohm car coil. It doesnt state wether or not you have to use a Ballist with it.
I hate like heck burn up the points. It seems like they are even harder to find than the stock coil or caliper

But you still need a resistor to limit the current in your application. (Because motorcycles have much more dwell time than cars.)
Ballasts are different from resistors. The purpose of a ballast is to heat up with usage and increase resistance as it heats up. If you can get a 1.5 ohm, 100watt ballast, it may heat up to 2 or 3 ohms, but it's hard to guess.
There is a way to make the points last basically forever:Just Any Ballast resistor with my current AMC coil? I see plenty of 1.5 and lower ohm rated resitors but no specific 3ohm rated ballist?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationdeezil wrote:
If that coil really is 3 ohms, it should work ok. It'll reduce the life of the points, but won't burn them out right away (without a resistor).
If you want to be safe, you can use a 1 ohm, 20 watt resistor.
Here's a 1-ohm, 50 watt cheap. It may take time to get it, but you can use that 3-ohm coil without it for a few days.
Or if you use the 3-ohm coil with the HEI module, you won't need a resistor at all, and the points will out last the bike.

Also, I forgot I had an online factory manual for the KZ200. It says the coil should be about 4.2 ohms. Here's a link, but it's a huge file (132Mb) because it's an excellent scan. Worth the wait to down load it.

If the Bike is for sure to have a 4.2 ohm coil can I get away with using this 4.8 coil without any resitors at all?
Also, Thank you very much for the service manual link. I will for sure download it when I get home.

Absolutely. No resistors needed if you go up in resistance.
My friend used some coils that looked like those. They didn't really last very long, but they did work for awhile.
