This is going to sound really stupid but my CSR1000 wouldn't idle at less than 5000 until I replaced my worn throttle cable. The P.O. had crimped the cable under the tank mount and the cable had frayed inside the sheath. This was just enough to keep the cable from returning to full closed position.

There is no doubt that I need to change the throttle cable because after adding the dragbars it is way to long but I don't see any evidence of it freying at the carbs or the throttle handle. I traced it back and did not find any kinks either.
