Hi y'all

I am quite new to these forum, so let me introduce myself. I am from Indonesia, I Live In Jakarta. I have a 23 years old KZ200. I was built in 1983, equipted with CDI not a contact breaker anymore. Currently I use Suzi GSX250 spoke rims front & rear. 1.85/18" + Battlax BT45F 90/90/18 front and 2.50/17 + Battlax BT45R 120/80/17 for rear. I apply oil cooler for the tiny kaws. The pic was taken before the hose of oil cooler had not been attached. What do you think guys, not bad isn't it?.

In the near future I going to modify my kz200 engine by myself into bigger displacement, maybe into 250 cc. DIY project I guess. I am going to do it in two way :

1. Implant Z 250 LTD cylinder head + internal part which might needed to my kz200, of course my kz200 would have longer stroke. AFAIK, CMIIW KZ250 single silinder has identical engine block, engine cover, and cylinder casing with KZ200. Therefore all I need then is kz250 cylinder barrel height, timing chain, connecting rod assy

2. Use bigger piston into my kz200 combustion chamber. e.g. Using mitsubishi lancer GLX '89 which has bore 76 mm. The modification will gain 250-260 cc with the stroke remain the same (58 mm).

Well what ur opinion about this? I need some valuable input + advice from all of you guys. Any advice will greatly apreciated.

Thanx

That's a nice little bike you have there:)

It's nice to see someone taking on a project that's not common here in the USA.

Keep us posted on your progress and results.

I don't believe you need to play around with stroke and outside pistons sources, all you need is a piston an cylinder from a kz250. kl250, klx250, or klt250, and you should be good to go.

Well thanx a lot for valuables advice for KL250 & Larrycavan. I Think thats how I am gonna do my project by using piston+crank shaft+connecting rod of KZ250. It will give my kz200 new bore x stroke which is 70 mm x 64 mm. Will back hunting them on ebay.com :). Thats not the end of story. I am still not satisfy with the bore size of KZ250 (70 mm). I will have 72 mm size bore/piston to fit in kz200 cylinder. I think 72 mm is the largest bore that kz200 can take, bigger than that won't fit anymore. I would give kz200 new engine displacement, about 260 cc.

I figure out the new engine displacement probably would generate not less than 21 hp, could easily beat Yamaha Serrow (225 cc), Suzi GSX 250 and Honda GL200. Kawasaki Ninja 150 cc, perhaps? :)).

BTW, currently I am greatly impressed with the Kawasaki GPZ750 '94 Turbocharged performance. Does anybody has it in this forum?
