I plan of installing a new cam chain without spliting the cases! How is that? I am going to break the original chain, join in the new one, rotate the crank till I see the other end of the new chain and be done with the old one. Would the chain tool from z1 do a good job?

You might need a good quality bicycle chain breaker tool.

I was thinking about that too but I didnt know. Do you like my idea on changing the chain?. I am someone full of easier to do ideas. Like in the bahamas I didnt have a chain breaker for my bicycle chain and I used a flaring tool

It seems to me that an important part like the cam chain whipping around at 9k rpm is not something I want to mess around with. Going down the road at 60 and it breaks is not something I want to experience. But thats just me

This was batted around on the old forum and the guys I remember who said they'd replaced theirs with one of the chains you rivet together (i.e., change without splitting cases seemed all said it worked OK. It does kind of seem like it'd be risky, but with the proper chain breaking tool, it seems to work. I don't remember anyone saying one failed on them, but maybe I just never read the post if someone did.

I did the same thing to mine 3 years ago. I have done this before with other bikes with good luck. Never had one break. The way I look at it is in order for Kawsakai to install the original camchain they had to rivet it together. So if it was good enough for them it's good enough for me.

Iwas gonna do it but the guy at z1 told me it was dangerous and I shouldn't do it. I was gonna do it and make sure it was done.
