Extrude Hone looks good and is something I've been wondering about for a while (why heads aren't ported abrasively I mean). We normally pay £500 ($900) for a ported head so $430 is relatively cheap.
The motor I am getting is an 83-84
, I have heard of cracking problems with double-plugged heads. Anyone have any experience of this?
And if you want scary fast, you need to see our other project....

extrude honing process has been around many years my only question is how to remove material in areas you want without removing in other areas?i suppose it would be good for exhuast manifolds or something that needs uniform amount of material removed all around.Extrude Hone looks good and is something I've been wondering about for a while (why heads aren't ported abrasively I mean). this is second hand info but on the drag bike forum they show pics of welded/bridged gpz heads to keep down cracking, they mostly are for the nitrous pro mods tho.
from what I could tell from the pics they welded a 1/2" bar of aluminum or mabe a plate from one cam gally to the other one in 4 places along the head attaching all the fins touching the bridge in the process.
