Yes valves are stainless and larger than stock, if I could get a set of adjustable sprockets I would rather do so but if not I will just make some cuts on the stock ones .

I was told that after going with larger intake valves and the upgraded cams (specs in picture) I would have to mill the cam sprockets to adjust the timing, if so how do I come up with the measurements for the machining and then what do I go off of to set the engine in time

I cut 10 extra degrees on my KZ750 cam sprockets and ended up somewhere in the middle. Have to cut off the rubber to make it work. APE racing might sell cam sprockets for kz650s. Every new cam needs to be timed. Your cams will come with a card saying what degree the lobe center should be set at.

After setting up the engine and checking my clearances, im a little tight on the intake side. I'm going to measure the pistons to see how much material i can cut away, hopefullyI can get it where I want it without having to use a thicker head gasket.

So im having problems getting the clearance i need without using a copper gasket, does anyone know of a different set of pistons i can use.
I'd rather not lose the compression with the copper gasket but if thats my only option so be it until I build another engine with a bigger budget

Is there not enough material to cut a deeper valve pocket? What the intake cam center at? could you retard that 1-2 degrees to get the clearance you need?

About .275 on the piston so I'd only be able to take out .030

Why are you using a copper gasket? They are prone to weeping.

How much clearance do you have now? .030"? If you can cut .030" you only need and additional .020" which you might get by retarding the cam 1-2 degrees. retarding that much will probably not make a noticeable difference in performance.

Its about .020" now. Going to cut 1 piston and set it back up and see where that gets me then ill go from there on the timing.
