Kz750-Gpz750 top end interchangeable?

As the subject asks, will a 83 ish gpz top end(pistons, barrels, head) go on a kz bottom end?
I’d love to swap the whole engine but the kz is shaft drive.

There are a few differences that I know of. One, the early engines use a mechanical tach drive and the later bikes eliminated that and went to an electronic tach triggers off a coil signal or something like that. The shape of the fins on the later engines is different, and there was a change to the combustion chamber shape and pistons. If you have the entire top end to switch everything should swap over, but again, you will loose your tach.

I think my tach is electronic, there’s no drive off the cam,if that’s where it would be.
I was more concerned with bolt pattern and cam chain length/line up.

Just noticed your signature line which states you have a shaft drive bike. Pretty sure everything will bolt up. When in doubt you can always check part numbers and do a comparison.

Yes, just be aware if your using the GPZ cams your gonna lose some low end torque. The hotter cams moves the power up the RPM range.

Be sure to pull the cam chain tensioner wedge spring out before installing the valve cover, otherwise the chain will be over tensioner when the cover is installed.

I’ll use the kz cams then, thank you.
I’m using a manual cct at the moment,I assume you’re talking about the standard gpz one,I may use the standard one.

I didn't explain very well. Basically, there is a rub block in the valve cover which presses down on the chain. That's why it's important to do the chain tensioning after the cover is on, not before.

I am total with Nessism statement.
I have seen a lot of cracked valve covers and broken cam chains after a cam install or valve clearance adjustment.
An automatic cam chain adjuster can be a PITA.
