J engine filter is $7.08 on Partzilla. $12.81 with both O-rings, but really not necessary every oil change.

I buy several filters at once with a larger order which means no tax and free shipping.

The OEM's don't make their own oil filters,They buy them in bulk from their preferred supplier, Who does Kawasaki use???
Are today's suppliers set up to make good filters for bikes from the 70's & 80's ???
Been using Puralator since Fram went to cardboard and inferior filter media, no issues so far

and check the boxes for place of manufacture. I use Purolator and STP as they were both, at some point, made by the same decent manufacturer I found on a list somewhere. But I've recently noticed their place of manufacture, on both, have changed. I assume the manufacturer is different then.
Oil and filters. So basic, yet the most difficult things to get a consensus on.

I've wondered this myself. But I came to the same conclusion as Ed. Even if the cardboard issue is not relevant to KZ's, I probably won't trust them to get the KZ filters correct either.
I just worry I'm buying filters made in the same way, and factory, as the Frams, so it may all be for nothing.
Here's the list from many years ago. Any or all of them could be different now.
List of Kz550 filters... probably same for other Kz's as well.

Regarding WIX 24942 :
I have WIX 24941 listed for the Kz550's. Maybe that is the one with wrong Orings for the 1000?
I haven't tried them, so I don't know if the orings are correct for the 550.
SWest wrote: BTW with that part # it should come with the correct O rings. There's another one with the wrong ones.
