Horse Hockey. Get a manual. Spend that money on what you really need.

Yeah im kinda unsure at the moment of what to do. 1200+ is too much for me, i found another guy that would probably be cheaper but either way he cant work on it until fall. Which means i just have to really granny it in second.
My other option is to sell it. I payed 2 grand for it and i have done some things to it, i would say that i could get 3 grand for it because it runs great, but only if i did not tell them about the second gear and they do not notice it. But then im just gonna want to buy another kz that could have the same problem for all i know.
As far as doing it myself i think that would be awesome but i dont want to get into something i cant finish.
Do you guys think a rookie like myself could tackle such a job. Im 22, i have never pulled an engine or been inside of a transmission. I think the hardest thing i have done was changing a rocker arm and pushrod on my old 350, and on my bike i have taken off carbs and put new valve shims in it and i thought that was gonna be hard. Now i realize that was a walk in the park!

You can split the cases without pulling the head. I'm sure you will get plenty of support here.
It's nice to know what's between your legs. I did my complete overhaul on my 350 Honda at 18.
Wouldn't have it any other way.

you can do this no sweat.
like steve said no need to pull the top end.
these are probably on of the easiest engines to do trany work on.

No luck needed. Just like the valve shim adjustment, you'll be back in a few weeks saying "I can't believe how easy it was"! You can do it.

Kev When you split the case every thing but the shift drum stay's in the upper case

Here's at pic. of my GPz750 tran's your is pretty much the same.
