I'm slow. Here is the polisher i built after finding this monster moyor in the attic. Not wanting it to go to waste i ordered about $200.00 worth of supplies from Tarheel supplies.
This is a 10 inch buff is capable of eating anything you are polishing.
This is filthy work. I just finished polishing my sons Z50 parts and i look like a coal miner.
Sorry no pic of me!

I agree. Polishing is Filthy work. But it is all in the sanding. Make sure you cross grains between every grit. If you sand right ,you don't need much but a tub of Mother's,and a lot of patience. Beer helps.:woohoo:

I did this with the motor in the frame-without busting a gasket.

The metel needs to be hot to properly polish. You need a good pair of gloves. Apply the clay frequently. I just apply it to the buff and hold the piece i'm polishing under it and the excess clay goes on the part and melts.
To cut the metal bring the piece toward you. To polish push it away from you.
I use the black then brown then white clay.
I also have some "Rebels" Three step polish. You rub it on. You rub it off. And you step back and say,"Wow Look at that shine.":woohoo: Roy

go to www.usa1.com they sell sanding discs.I started with 800 and went up to 2000.i did the entire engine in
2 hrs.although my engine covers were off at the time .then you can use regular polish and coat with carnuba wax. I got this idea from a guy named danny in Melbourne florida. He does all of Billy Lanes aluminum parts.

Clean, polished engines really make these bikes look good. I always appreciate a good shine, because I know how much work goes into it. It also tells me that owner really loves his ride!
