We've been messin with tuning my carbs found that my boots were cracked allowing a vac leak. We went up on the main jets. I'm popping when reving it off idle
This is where i'm at. Take a listen tell me what you think.

The bike is only running on one cylinder at both idle and revving :)

I know the sound well, I actually rode my 80 750 twin on one cylinder when I first got it running, just wanted to see if it would do it :)

Which side exhaust pipe is not getting hot?

Hmmmmm. When I adjust both pilot screws they both make a difference. Let me check again.

Is it possible that the recording mic was right next to one of the exhausts (if it's two-into-two), so it only picked up the one?

..I don't know, I can't listen to it on Linux, it's apparently a Windows-formatted file... :(

It's got a 2 into 1 on it. I just checked the headers and they are both hot but the right side is hotter. The mic was about 2 feet away from the pipe.

What RPM do you idle at?

Don't claim to know much (just learning,) but my 77 seems to give the same popping. Only upon initial/cold starting. I've dug through the archives a bit, and found that if your boot from the air box to the carbs is leaking, then your running too rich? I think. I checked mine, and it is in fact torn. I haven't yet replaced them, but mine evens out and stops backfiring once it warms up.:)

According to the tach i'm running at 1000 or a hair over. For some reason the idle screw won't lower the rpm
anymore than it is.

Remove the spark plugs and post what they look like (#1 and #2).

A history of the bike and what you have done so far would help a lot :)

Hey steell,I pulled the plugs, the #2 looked normal but #1 was carbon fouled. So I cleaned it and put in the #2 cyl.(swapped).
It's running on both.:woohoo:
That seemed to be my problem. Runs great now I almost am afraid to do a sync.. Might mess it up.:laugh: I'll post another sound clip.

Oh..... The spouts that stick out of the intake boots, Do they need to be joined with a hose or plugged off separately?
