They existed... Kawasaki was using up parts - on some of the late run KZ900's you will find some parts unique to the 77's. As these bikes were assembled in Lincoln Nebraska they were just for the North American market, so the rest of the world did not see them.

Kawasaki's dealer software lists these bikes and does show some of the differences unique to the 77 bike - one is the solid-state rectifier used on some of the 77 bikes.

that's how my 76 kz900 is. it has a manufacture date of june 1975, they had to use up the z1 parts for the new model (1976 kz900) to come out. i'm surprised that a june 1975 bike would be called a 76 kz, but that seems to be the case.

I wonder if that was the case for all the KZ's? The earliest dates that I have personally seen are July (7/76, etc), I have had several with July starting dates, but only a few with Jan or later of the model year.

I have a 76 kz 900 thats titled as a 1000 it had
1015 jugs on it. somebody said it was a early 1000
so i wouldnt doubt anything that comes with these bikes it also has a b1 stamped on the rotor and a ltd seat, but far from a ltd.
