It has been decided that the repair will now be made in the winter.

If you're asking because you want to know if JB Weld is good to use, then deffinately go for it. I've used the JB Weld in lots of hot applications, and it has never failed.
Just follow the directions, and you're good to go.

Cheers.

with all respect "lots of applications" dont mean shit. if you're gonna use JB isnt it better to find out now or soon if it will hold(which I dont think it will) as opposed to next spring when its time to ride again and a "real" repair MIGHT be necessary??

Personally I would just junk that head and replace it with one that has no cracks. why take the risk and put it together just top take it back apart to do it right. There is a ton of "J" heads around.

This doesn't sound very respectful. :S Maybe I should clarify.

I have used and experienced the use of JB Weld product for a very long time. Many of these applications were very quickly/sloppy done in emergency situations that the product was clearly not intended for and yet it held up, and is still going strong many years of high stress later.

My experience with the product is excellent, and I would deffinately recommend it in "appropriate" applications such as this case, where it can be used without any fear of failure. Not to say that I would always attemp its use, as there are clearly situations that require welding/replacement. But when one cannot afford, and JB Weld can be used safely, I promote.

If it were mine, I would probly replace it. Like said, theres lots of fine J's around, and the work is neglegable.

But... it must be done cheap, and the head is painted, and cleared, and highly polished. PITA, so... not my choice, but meh whatcha gonna do! ;)

Cheers.

I stocked up on "J" and GPZ heads over the last few years so I just would not risk it.
