look at the rear peg hanger tab...did the 1980 kz1000 have that tab or did it have the triangle support??? :ohmy:

Very true, Good observation. This would make it a 1978 KZ1000-A2 frame. Boy this is really a conglomeration of parts. But than I guess the engine sidecovers gave the year away that it wasn't a MKII to begin with.

thats a 78 a2 frame,stamped rear footpeg brackets coming off frame.thats a 77-78 kz1000 A series only thing B)

i'll go back today and get the manufacture date / location. i will say though that i like the looks of this bike better than the LTD's. whoever screwed around with it did a decent job.

The really sweet part about this is that you have a bike that is "Made in the USA", and the sticker on it to prove it. Nothing wrong about your acquisition in the least.

The serial is most definately a 1978 KZ1000A2, lots of creative mods on that bike. It does look like 1979-80 KZ1000MKII pipes. If they are any good they are worth good money.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Definitely MKII pipes. If they're clean, they are worth more than what you paid for the bike. I would say quite a bit more. If anyone is doing a restoration project for a 79/80 MKII they're like gold.

i have a pefect shape and chrome no dents vance and hines 4 into 1 street bike header to trade straight up...for those useless MKII pipes....:silly:

when i get this thing running and some black headers for it, i'll ebay them. i had no idea....
