Attn: Bassani 4into1 owners
09 Dec 2009 08:16
So, some time ago I picked up a GPz1100 Bassani 4into1 for a great deal on eBay...but the rest of the story is that it came w/out a baffle. These baffle are apparently made of Unobtanium and do not appear on eBay (been waiting a full year and nothing). The lack of a baffle doesn't bother me but it does bother the Police and my neighbors. Is there a Bassani owner on KZR who can take photos(s) of their baffle so I can have one fabricated? Thanks.

Well that sucks. The only expierence with Bassani pipes I have had were expansion chambers for the three cylinder two stroke Suzuki's. I did not know they made a four stroke pipe. Good Luck finding that elusive part.

Check out the Vetter/Pridmore Memorial build thread in the Projects section on here. That bike has an old Bassani and they had to fab up some exhaust parts for it.Good luck, great pipes -Bassani is still in business but don't think they do bike stuff any more, just car exhausts.

Thanks Jack and Mike...I have talked to the Bassani people and they almost laughed at me...they haven't stocked those pipes in 20 years. I'll dig into the Vetter thread.

Baffles are pretty easy to make for someone with minimal welding skills. Measurements are critical but other than that I'm sure you can figure it out with a bit of thought. Is it a strait tail pipe or a megaphone style?
Also, have you ever thought about just replacing the original rear half of the pipe with an aftermarket slip on?

Thats what I did. Got a D&D carbon fiber slip on from an R1Baffles are pretty easy to make for someone with minimal welding skills. Measurements are critical but other than that I'm sure you can figure it out with a bit of thought. Is it a strait tail pipe or a megaphone style?

1) A round wall at the inlet of the baffle and a larger wall at the end where it exits.
2) A steel tube connects the two flat wall parts, and the tube is blocked half way down it's length.
3) The inside tube is swiss-cheese drilled along it's full length.
It works by: exhaust from engine comes into the muffler through the inside of the inside tube and "expands out" through the small holes, then exits out the back by re-entering the back half of the tube's small holes to escape. Works pretty good.
If push comes to shove you could make a "thrush" style baffle, that's what was in my old header. You make it as follows:So, some time ago I picked up a GPz1100 Bassani 4into1 for a great deal on eBay...but the rest of the story is that it came w/out a baffle.
