Addy, Much depends on what you want/ can afford.and what your' abilities are.if there's a kz400 around cheep, and it's your' first, go for it. most of us started with cast-offs. and I'd be surprised if most of the members here didn't have current rides in their stables. building/moding a 30 year old liter bike is a sign of relative affluence, not a need for daily transport.lines here diverge, between restoreres, riders, racers, customs, etall. if you've got the bucks, and want the best "kz". a new zrx1200, would be my opt. going back, a GPZ1100,KZ1100elr Kz1100,KZ1000,Kz900 Z1,KZ750/4 CSR650/KZ650/kz440/kz400..............G

The only billet cases I know of are made by a guy who used to work for MTC. I believe you can buy them now through there and cost about $3500 a set. That's the price last time I heard but it may have changed but I'm sure it wouldn't be by much. I also believe you have to use their oil pimp and possibly a few other parts made just for these cases.

i just went to mtc's web site those cases are going for 4500.oo their billet block is only 1800.00 finished +pistons, a ward vortex head 3500.00,robinson trans mission 3500.00, a falicon super crank 4000.00 then all you have to do is find the rest of the parts and pieces + the speical mtc oil pump and off you go to the races with out a kawi part in the whole bike.
