Andrews Cams, 650/750 specs?

I did a search here and in the archives and on google, and couldnt find what Im after. Im looking for the specs (lift and duration if possible)on the different grind numbers of andrews cams for the 650/750. All I could find was a chart for the big bikes.
Were they taken over by another company? I think I read that the 7x andrews cams for the 900/1000 are now the APE410 cams...
Anyone have a link or remember the specs?

IIRC, APE Jay posted that Andrews went out of business and APE bought the design for the 8X cams and now sells them as the APE .410 grind. I could be mistaken though :)

General info found on a Google search:
Both WebCam and MegaCycle offer hardfaced reweld cams. This requires sending your cams to them to be machined to alter the profile. This will cost in excess of $400.

Also, replacing the stock cams typically require that the pistons be replaced also. The stock valve springs in the ZR-7 are the same as the GPz 750 and can handle up to about 0.385" of lift. The lift for the ZR-7 is 0.320" with 270 degrees of duration at zero inches of lift.

Camshaft duration is measured differently depending on the manufacturer. Going from memory here, I believe Webcam measures their duration at .050 of lift while megacycle measures their duration at 0.40 of lift. The primary reason they do this is to prevent an apples to apples comparison with respect to cam shaft duration.

Just to give you an idea where I am at with this, I have a Wiseco 810 kit sitting on my work bench. I also have purchased a set of Yoshimura Stage II camshafts for the GPz 750 and stock GPz 750 cams (which offer 16 degrees more duration and .040 more lift over our stock cams). I also have a set of stock 750 Zephyr cams, which I would use as a core if I decide to go the Megacycle or WebCam route. Both the Yoshimura and GPz 750 cams I have have the smaller exhaust base circle.

Undoubtedly the cheapest option and the easiest to find would be the 83-85 GPz750 cams.

I just noticed that your sig says "Soon to come, Webcams 110", do you already have them or are you sending your cams in?

Andrews offered the following grinds for the 650/750 Kawasaki

10 - 236 .330 - Bolt in Stock cups & springs 2500RPM+

15 - 244 .340 - Same as above but for 750cc

20 - 252 .350 - Modified engines up to 82 3000RPM+ stock springs and cups

25 - 260 .360 - 82 & Later Stock springs OK piston clearance needs checking more power from 3000RPM

30 - 270 .370 Best cam for big cc street motor. Springs, cups and collars sould be upgraded. Power comes on from 3000RPM+

35 - 274 .380 - Street/drags 800cc and up. Fully modified engines rurn on from 5000RPM up. Springs, cups, collars should be upgraded

40 - 262 .392 - Drags and big motors. Springs and cups required. Broad torque to 11000RPM

You guys beat me with the specs. Always considered the #30 cam and talked to Andrews once about it.

Sounds like the 83-85 GPZ is close to it but I don't like the electronic tach set up.

Hoping someone out there has run the 110/8x grind on a street 810 as thats the way I'm leaning also now. Seems a little hot for me but that might just get us a couple bikes ahead of the rest.:woohoo: ;)

Possibly a little tamer lobe center could tame it a little also??

Just a clarification. Andrews did not go out of business. They only quit making cams for import bikes. We did buy some of their masters.

I have been planning on sending my 650 cams to APE to get them "made" into the web 110 grind. they are even boxed up and ready to go, they have just been sitting waiting for me to get the ambition to send them, then I got the zx and they sort of were forgotten for a bit, but I might have found a deal on some andrews cams, the seller has given me this for specs:
1.432 total cam lobe overall size
and I was trying to see what grind they matched up to, and how they compared to webs 110 grind

Can't tell from that figure. Do you know what the base circle is? If so, you can subtract it from this figure and you would have your lift. If the BS is 1.110" like a Z1, then you only have .322 lift.

Maybe this will help:
Some engines made in 1983 and 1984 for the GPZ750 have a stock base circle size of 1.070. All other 750 and KZ650 engines have a 1.110 base circle. Check this before sending cams to the factory for grinding. Some profiles will need the cylinder head cut out for lobe clearance!

supposed to come out of a 79, so .322 lift
that doesnt match anything that larrycaven posted
the web 110 grind is a .395 lift
What were the stock lifts on the 650/750?

Ask the seller to measure the base circle. All Andrews cams had the Andrews number stamped in them.
